Championship Game 3 Preview

by Jon Kliment

The Elmira Enforcers will be looking to keep their season alive as Carolina visits First Arena for the first time during this championship series.

The Enforcers were unable to gain any ground in Winston-Salem as the Thunderbirds jumped out to a 2-0 series lead despite controversy surrounding the overtime goal. With every game potentially being their last the Enforcers have an uphill climb with their captain, starting goaltender, and head coach all suspended, Elmira will need to find a way to keep themselves alive in the series.

The Enforcers have found a lot of success with 19 of their 33 wins coming on First Arena ice.

ENFORCERS NOTES

- Brandon Vuic leads the Enforcers with four goals in the playoffs thus far.

- Nick Niedert will be looked to as Troy Passingham’s two game suspension will keep him out of the lineup for at least games three and four

- Gavin Yates also continues to make an impact as he has quietly tallied two goals and four assists for six points in the post season

THUNDERBIRDS NOTES

Michael Bunn has put up points in every Thunderbirds game this post season

- Beau Walker’s addition to the Carolina roster has not gone unnoticed. In 2 games he has posted 6 points for a +7

- Christian Pavlas, goaltender of the year, continues to look shaky in the crease. He’s dominance of play during the regular season has not translated to the playoffs where he now has a save percentage below .900 for the first time since mid-December
