Elmira Enforcers Defensive Signings

by Jon Kliment

The Elmira Enforcers of the Federal Prospects Hockey League are proud to announce that they have added three more players to their 2020-2021 roster as Bryce Martin, Kyler Matthews, and Trevor Babin have all signed contracts with the team.

Martin, a 23 year old defenseman from Fort Erie, ONT, played for Elmira last season where he had two goals, four assists and 51 penalty minutes in 17 games. Bryce played his final year of junior in 2018-19 with the Niagara Whalers of the Greater Metro A Junior Hockey League. He served as the Whalers captain and registered 26 goals and 43 assists over 34 games played. Martin finished last season with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs of the SPHL.

Matthews, a 22 year old defenseman from Alliston, ONT, played nine games for the Enforcers in 2019-2020 after finishing his collegiate career at SUNY Canton. During his two collegiate years Kyler had 11 goals and 25 assists while adding 64 penalty minutes. Matthews spent time on the power play and penalty kill during his nine games as well.

Babin, a 21 year old goaltender from Philadelphia, PA, only appeared in two games for the Rumble Bees but put up a stellar .920 save percentage. In his two games played Trevor saw 75 shots and stopped 69 of them. Babin has a history of success having won an EHL championship, been a two time GMHL All Star, and was recognized as a GMHL goalie of the year. Trevor was selected 7th overall in the Battle Creek dispersal draft earlier this summer.

Robbie Nichols was very pleased to get these players signed telling media members “We are thrilled to have Bryce and Kyler back with the Enforcers. Both are young players who have enormous potential. Trevor Babin was a goalie we wanted. We have heard nothing but positive reviews from our scouting staff on Trevor.”

The Enforcers will be heading back to First Arena this year as they attempt to claim the Commissioner’s Cup in their third season after winning their last 10 games in a row before the pandemic closed the season.
