Enforcers Announce Second Coach in Franchise History

by Jon Kliment

The Elmira Enforcers of the Federal Prospects Hockey League are proud to announce that they have hired Ray Tremblay as the new head coach beginning with the 2020-2021 season. This news marks only the second coach in franchise history for the Enforcers.

Tremblay, a native of Peachland, British Columbia, comes to the Enforcers after a successful season in Danville at the helm of the Dashers. Last season Ray led the Dashers to a 24-18-2-3 finish in a very tough Western Division which included a 6 game winning streak from January 4th to 22nd.

When asked about his decision to come to Elmira Tremblay spoke candidly “Elmira is a premier organization in the league. Robbie is very passionate and cares about the team and that shows. With such a strong roster already in place, I’m very excited to get to work.”

Having previously spent time in New York as a college athlete at SUNY Brockport from 2008-2011 and again as a professional athlete in Watertown with the Privateers during the 2013-14 season Tremblay brings a variety of experience and leadership to an organization on the cusp of a championship.

After ending his playing days Ray knew he wanted to move on to coaching. “Coaching is something I’ve always wanted to do. Last year was a whole different experience being behind the bench. It’s amazing the amount of work that goes into it. This is a 24 hour job, but I really enjoy it. It’s as close as you can come to playing and keeps those competitive juices flowing.” Tremblay said.

When Brent Clarke took over in Watertown Robbie Nichols conducted a thorough search for someone who could help the Enforcers capture that elusive championship. “We saw what Ray did with the Dashers last season and when Coach Clarke left we knew it was a big role to fill. We feel confident Ray can do that. The task is a large one and we are very confident that we have the right man for the job to finish what we started in our first two seasons here in Elmira.”

Echoing the sentiment Coach Tremblay said “I’m hungry and very motivated to help bring a championship to Elmira”
