Enforcers Make Monumental First Trade

by Jon Kliment

The Elmira Enforcers took their next step in building a championship caliber team by adding in the All Time League Leader in Goals, Assists, Points, Penalty Minutes, and Games Played Ahmed Mahfouz to the roster. Mahfouz comes in exchange for future considerations as the Enforcers add a strong locker room presence as well as a solid player to their roster.

“Once I saw Brent Clarke got the coaching job in Elmira, I really wanted to come because after working under him last season at the end I knew if I had a full season with him we could do some damage in this league.” Mahfouz said of his choice to come to Elmira. “Another reason for Elmira was the great arena, city, and people! I am excited to play in front of legit fans in a legit arena!”

Mahfouz leads the FHL in every single offensive category all time except for All Time Points Per Game. Ahmed has captured two separate FHL Championships including the inaugural one with  the  Akwesasne Warriors.

In 8 years in the FHL Mahfouz has only had a negative plus/minus state one time. All of the offensive statistics, while impressive, are sometimes overshadowed by another record Ahmed holds, which is the all-time leader in penalty minutes.

Coach Clarke was quick to explain that the penalty minutes are not a bad thing in this case. “I had him last year and I brought him in for a reason, he is a game changer. I love the way he plays. He plays with a lot of heart and makes everyone around him better. He’s a good character guy in the room who’ll stand up for teammates and is an all-around good player. Fans are really gonna love watching him play”

Though many in the league may consider him a tough guy and an intimidating presence on the ice Mahfouz is very humble and couldn’t wait to thank the people who brought him in here.

“I want to thank Robbie (Nichols), Coach Clarke, and the whole Elmira organization for having enough confidence in me to come into a new city and a new organization to come and help lead this team into the right path.”
