Enforcers Make Splash Ahead of Camp

by Jon Kliment

The Elmira Enforcers continue to built up their roster again, adding Christian Whitcomb in a trade with the Watertown Wolves.

Whitcomb, 23 from Cheektowaga, NY, had a banner year last season putting up 24 points (1 goal and 23 assists) in 48 games in Watertown as well as being loaned to both the  Birmingham Bulls and Knoxville Ice Bears of the SPHL for a total of nine games. Before playing in Watertown Christian spent his rookie season in Danville with Coach Clarke and Enforcers Defenseman Glen Patterson who was also his defensive partner.

When asked how he felt after getting the news that he had been moved Whitcomb  told media members “I am so excited I love playing for Clarke. It will be awesome to get to play with Patty again.” Christian went on “The fans last year were so loud; First Arena is such an awesome place to play. From what I can tell Elmira has the best organization and I am looking forward to being a part of it. ”

At 5’10, Christian may be considered on the smaller side, but Coach Clarke was quick to comment “(Whitcomb) may be on the smaller side, but he plays with an edge and that type of player really adds to our fantastic roster already in place. I saw a lot in Christian back in Danville so when I had the chance to put him out there with Patterson again it could only booster our already good defensive core.”

The Enforcers will be heading back to First Arena this year as they attempt to claim the Commissioner’s Cup in their second season after making it all the way to the championship series before falling short against Carolina.
