Mentor game preview 12/21

The Elmira Enforcers face off with other expansion team this season the Mentor Ice Breakers for the first time at Mentor Civic Arena tonight.

The Enforcers (6-9-0-2, 20 pts, .392%) will battle with the Ice Breakers (5-11-0-0, 15 pts,.313%) as they look to rebound from the previous weekend sweep by the Thunderbirds.

Tonight’s game is the second of ten meetings between the clubs this season.

- The Enforcers Penalty Kill is 19 for its last 21 attempts

 - Elmira has had the second-best defense in the league, allowing just 3.18 goals per contest

-  Séan Reynolds has contributed in several different ways, leading the club in power-play goals (3), shorthanded goals (2), and game-winning goals (2), as well as leading the team in goals in all (8)


Forward Mark Essery is tied for fourth in the FHL with 12 goals through 16 games. Essery has a team-high 20 points 

 Mentor’s offense got off to a slow start this season, but the Ice Breakers have now scored the third-most goals in the league despite playing in one fewer game than four other clubs.

Former Enforcer Derek Moser is tyed with Carolina’s Christian Pavlas for the most shutouts in the league (3). Moser has started all but one game since November 24 and has accounted for all five Ice Breakers wins.
